Origami Salad is the place you go to get a glimpse into my mind. If you've ever watched anyone fold origami, until the project comes together you can never figure out what it's going to be. This is much like my fiction. Salads are a mixture of different ingredients that might seem haphazard in a list, but are very deliberately added to attain a certain flavor. This is often true of my articles. Origami Salad is, therefore, an essay into which I will throw different ingredients, flavoring it as I choose, but you'll never guess where it will lead. In all, a microcosm of my mind.
The origin of the name came from an old Sahara Ice column, one of the first few, in which I introduce the titles of possible future articles. Origami Salad was one of them and I liked it so much, I've decided to use it here. Other titles mentioned in the long-ago article are: Centipede Shoe Salesman, Fish Olympics and Steve Lazarowitz Live from the Asylum. This area could have been called any of those.
So without further ado, I give you Origami Salad, hoping as always, this will whet your appetite for the main course.
