About Steve (that's me!)

They gave me a page to tell you who I am. As I’m not quite sure myself, this presents a problem. I can tell you who and what I’m not, however. I’m neither the Queen of Sheba, the President of the United States, or completely sane.
I mean, I tried to write the old standby…

Steve Lazarowitz was born in Brooklyn, New York, and lived there for 40 years before moving to Tasmania, Australia to be with a woman, now his wife, who he met on the Internet. He is the author of many fantasy and science fiction novels including: A Leaf in the Wind, A Cure for the Common Curse...yada, yada, yada
While this may give you some small clue as to some of the influences that have shaped me, it doesn’t tell you who I am. It’s not really about me. So, in true Lazarowitzian style, here are a few things about me, I feel you should know:
- I was born on New Years Day, 1962.
- I like to fold origami, particularly the more complex, realistic shapes.

- Above you can see an African elephant, and an anhinga. These are poor quality pics taken with a desktop cam. I'll be replacing them with better pics and examples as time permits.
- I moved over 10,000 miles for love, but still won’t get up to make myself a sandwich when I’m hungry.
- My favorite color is clear.
- I love to watch movies. Here are some of my favorites: Knightriders, Hudson Hawk, Memento, Fight Club, Circle of Iron, The Breakfast Club, The Interview, Lord of the Rings, Field of Dreams, The Shawshank Redemption, Sin City.
- My favorite author is Roger Zelazny. My favorite series is the Amber Series. My favorite single book is Firelord by Park Godwin. Jack Chalker needs special mention too, in the favorite author category.
- I can clap with one hand.
- I never get tired of talking about myself (can you tell?)
- I have been married three times, but only divorced twice. I’m falling behind!
- My last name translates to son of a leper.
- I can eat the same thing every day and not get tired of it, as long as I like it.
- I was a big baseball fan till I moved to Tasmania. I don’t get baseball here, so I started following cricket.
- I have had any number of exotic pets, including parrots, lizards, snakes, insects and arachnids. I've also had your more standard variety of pets. I'll throw a couple of pictures in here, to break up the monotony.

I call this one the moment before the disaster. Oreo and Sunny are pets from the past. Sunny is a maroon-bellied conure.
- One of our new besties, Kitty's full name is Sassy Kitty Cat. I love having a dog I can take to the park, and call with the words, "Here kitty!".

- Yes, I own chickens (or chooks, if you happen to be Australian). Two isa browns, to be exact. We bought them as pets, but I do so like fresh eggs in the morning (or any time for that matter). This is Donna. Note kitty is in the background.

- Sadly deceased, I had to wait until I moved to Tasmania to have a pet stick insect, though I'd often wanted one
-

A rhinocerous bettle, another of my more recent pets.
- I like sex. How come no one ever lists sex as a hobby. It’s a lot more fun than stamp collecting (which I used to do).
- I couldn’t carry a tune if it had a handle.
- My favorite group is Styx. I like Billy Joel a lot too.
- I need a vacation. I say this all the time, and it’s always true.
- I love to travel. I’ve been to the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, the UK, and 28 of the 48 mainland states. I even visited Australia once.
- When I was younger, I used to fantasize about sleeping with two women at the same time. Now I just fantasize about sleeping.
- I may add more, if enough people email me and say this isn’t enough, but what are the odds of that?
